In the sport of professional cycling, a soigneur (“swan-yer”) is a very important part of a successful team. Not only do they pack bags, prepare food, schedule flights, drive vans, hand up food, carry up to rooms, and calm nerves, they also rub legs. The Soigneur is the last person to touch a rider before the race, and the first person to hand them a drink after the race.
Unless you’re a professional, you are your own soigneur. We’re here to help. At Soigneur we create products that enhance your athletic experience, motivate you to start your workout, enjoy the ride, and recover from a workout.
Dan Socie : Founder
Soigneur was conceived out of my love of design, photography, cycling, and a desire to help others.
Short of alpine mountain climbing, I’ve tried it all in endurance sports. Bike racing (road, mountain, track, cyclocross), triathlon (5x Ironman finisher), marathons, and a 40-mile run to celebrate my 40th birthday. While it seems I spend all of my time on a bike, I’ve worked in marketing & communication design for the last 15 years. And no matter what I’m doing, I always carry a camera.
Geoff Kuyper : Sales
“I don’t have to be Emperor, but King of Cool would work.” That was my response from Geoff when asked him about a title. It sums up his personality pretty well. There is always humor in everything he does.
A Cat 2 rider on the road, Elite something or other on the mountain bike, and a 190 average in Wii bowling, not only does Geoff know how to ride, he also knows the bike business. More specifically, he knows sports retail thanks to the combination of a business degree from Grand Valley State and 7+ years working at various bike shops in various capacities.
